FAQs

Who delivers the product?
We partner with courier service providers for doorstep deliveries countrywide.Kans Med Supply handles deliveries within Nairobi.
How many vaporizers does it support, and are they included?
The workstation has a dual-position Selectatec manifold, allowing two vaporizers to be fitted at the same time.Vaporizers are usually sold separately. When requesting a quotation, buyers should clearly state which anesthetic agents they need: Isoflurane, Sevoflurane, Halothane, or Enflurane.
Are the gas pipeline connections compatible with my hospital wall outlets?
The machine supports three medical gases:
  • Oxygen (O₂)
  • Nitrous Oxide (N₂O)
  • Medical Air
Gas outlet fittings vary between countries. When requesting a quotation, buyers (especially in Uganda and Tanzania) should specify their local wall outlet standard: British Standard (BS), American (DISS), or German (DIN for the correct gas hoses.
Who provides local technical support, calibration, and warranty service?
Kans Med Supply has a team of biomedical engineers who can provide annual preventive maintenance, sensor calibration, and spare parts replacement.
What does the factory warranty cover, and can it be extended?
The warranty period is 12 months. We offer on-site training for the hospital's anesthetists and biomedical technicians.Kans Med Supply can provide annual preventive maintenance, sensor calibration, and spare parts replacement on an ongoing basis at a fee.
Does the Anesthesia Machine come with a gas scavenging system to protect operating room staff?
The machine supports a Passive Anesthetic Gas Scavenging System (AGSS) to remove waste gases from the surgical area safely.Buyers should confirm with the dealer whether the AGSS kit and hoses are included in the standard price or available as an optional accessory.
Can the AM832 Anesthesia Machine be used for neonatal (newborn) patients?
No. The Eternity AM832 is designed for adult and pediatric patients with a minimum patient weight of 10 kg. It is not recommended for neonates because its minimum tidal volume is too high for newborn patients.
What is the difference between the standard AM832 and the AM832 Pro?
The main differences are the screen size and ventilation modes:
  • Standard AM832: Has a 7-inch TFT screen and basic ventilation modes, including IPPV, Manual, and SIMV.
  • AM832 Pro: Has a larger 10.4-inch screen and advanced ventilation modes, including Proportional Assist Ventilation (PAV) and Pressure Support Ventilation (PSV).
What is the replacement schedule for consumables?
  • Oxygen Sensor (FiO₂ cell): Replace every 1–2 years, depending on usage.
  • Soda Lime: Replace when the granules change color, usually turning purple, which indicates that they are saturated with carbon dioxide.
How long does the backup battery last during a power outage?
2 hours. The workstation has a rechargeable lithium backup battery that provides at least 120 minutes (2 hours) of continuous operation. It also has audible and visual alarms that alert staff when the main power fails or the battery is running low.
What are the electrical power consumption requirements?
The machine has low power consumption of ≤50 VA (Volt-Amperes).Its ventilator is powered by gas pressure, while electricity is mainly used for the digital display, LED lighting, and internal monitoring system.
What built-in mechanism protects the patient against Nitrous Oxide (N₂O) hypoxia?
The system has a mechanical N₂O cut-off valve. If the oxygen (O₂) pressure drops below a safe level, the machine automatically stops or reduces the nitrous oxide (N₂O) flow. This helps prevent a low-oxygen gas mixture from reaching the patient.
What happens if the internal electronic systems fail entirely during surgery?
If the electronic system fails, the clinician can switch to Manual/Spontaneous Ventilation mode. The mechanical gas flowmeters and adjustable pressure-limiting (APL) valve continue to work without electricity, allowing manual ventilation to continue.
What specific critical alarms are built into the monitoring interface?
The microprocessor continuously monitors the system and provides high- and low-priority alarms for:
  • Airway Pressure: High or low peak airway pressure (Ppeak) and apnea.
  • Volumes: High or low minute volume (MV) and tidal volume (VT).
  • Safety: Low oxygen pressure, disconnected O₂ sensor, power failure, and critically low battery.
Is an EtCO₂ (Capnography) monitor built-in or an optional add-on?
The End-Tidal CO₂ (EtCO₂) monitoring module is available as an optional plug-and-play feature. The standard configuration displays airway pressures and basic volume loops. If real-time capnography is required on the main display, buyers should include the EtCO₂ module in their procurement checklist.
What is the actual adjustable range for Tidal Volume?
The ventilator provides a tidal volume range of 20 mL to 1,500 mL. This wide range supports adult and pediatric patients weighing over 10 kg.
Can the breathing circuit be autoclaved to prevent cross-contamination?
Yes. The compact circle breathing circuit is made from high-grade, autoclave-safe materials, such as PPSU. It can withstand steam sterilization at temperatures up to 134°C.
Does the machine feature an Oxygen Flush button, and what is its flow rate?
Yes. The machine has an emergency O₂ flush valve (O₂+ button). It delivers pure oxygen directly into the breathing circuit at 25–75 L/min to quickly flush the circuit or fill the reservoir bag.
What is the capacity of the Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) absorber canister?
The integrated soda lime canister holds about 1,500 mL (1.5 kg) of CO₂ absorbent granules. Its simple bypass system and single-turn lock make it easy to replace the canister when the granules change color.
What type of trigger mechanisms does the ventilator use to sync with patient breaths?
The AM832 Pro has both pressure triggers (0–20 cmH₂O) and flow triggers (0–20 L/min).This dual-trigger system helps the ventilator respond to the patient's natural breathing efforts and can reduce the work of breathing during PSV and PAV modes.
Are the transport wheels anti-static and brake-equipped?
Yes. The machine is fitted with four 100 mm anti-static casters for safe movement in the operating room. The two front wheels have mechanical brake locks to keep the workstation stable during use.
